In the fullness of time God sent his eternal Son into the world as the son of Joseph and Mary. He was given the name Jesus. Matthew identifies Jesus as the son of David, of Abraham, and of a virgin. The rich identity of Jesus comes with the promise of the presence of God and salvation from sin, and the call to receive and respond to him. Text: Matthew 1
